Why you should laugh first thing in the morning

Hi lovelies
 
Have you ever been in a really shitty mood, have someone tell you “oh come on, smile!” and then wanted to claw their eyes out?

Or maybe I’m the only one with homicidal fantasies.

Either way, turns out they were right.



We already know that real laughter is therapeutic, and organizations like the Red Noses have been using that fact to make people’s lives better for a long time now. But did you know that with laughter, faking it also works? Some studies in the area of positive psychology and even complementary medicine (which, granted, I am not a fan of) would suggest that forcing yourself to laugh can actually improve your mood. Smiling works, to a lesser degree, too. The studies I’ve looked at did have rather small sample sizes. But with nothing to lose (except your dignity), it’s really worth a try.

We all know being happy and positive makes us more productive and efficient all round. So tomorrow morning after you finish brushing your teeth, start the day off with a laugh!
